An Assistant Cubmistress and
an Assistant Scoutmaster who first met at a Scouters' conference at Missenden Abbey, Great
Missenden. were married at St. John's Church, High Wycombe, on Saturday.
They are Miss Betty Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Parker, of 23, Cressex-road, High Wycombe, who is
Assistant Cub Mistress of the 14th High Wycombe (Booker) Pack, and Mr. Norman Guy Stansbury, of Richmond, Surrey,
who is Assistant Scoutmaster of the 1st Prestwood Troop of Boy Scouts, and also plays for Prestwood
Football Club.
The Rev. G. E. Franklin, priest-in-charge of St. John's Church, officiated.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a full length dress of white taffeta and spotted tulle, made by her mother,
and an orange blossom headdress and pearl tiara lent by a friend. She wore a necklace and ear clips of
marquisite and blue stones, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a shower bouquet of roses,
tulips, forget-me-nots and lilies-of-the-valley.
The chief bridesmaid, Miss Stella Parker, sister of the bride, and Miss Jennifer Williams, friend of the bride, wore
blue taffeta dresses with headdresses made by the bride's mother, and diamante necklets, the gifts of
the bridegroom. They carried bouquets of anemones.
Best man was Mr. Donald Stansbury, brother of the bridegroom.
The bride was presented with a wooden spoon by her brother, William Parker, horseshoes by Janet Jones,
a cousin, and Miss Jennifer Williams, and a black cat by Richard Dearlove, also a cousin.
At the reception at St John's Church Hall, High Wycombe, a three tier wedding cake made by a family friend,
was cut and after the reception the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon at Tewkesbury.
